The past one month has been a special one for the Salesforce developer community in India, thanks to Zachary Jeans and the SFIndiaTour meetups. As the legend goes, when people started asking him about when he was going to India, he decided to tweet to his community of twitter followers asking for opinions and had around 4-5 cities in his mind. But he was met with such a huge response that he eventually ended up with 14 cities, 13 meetups and 30 days to go around India.
Zachary’s main intention was to shine some light on the wonderful Salesforce Community, User and Developer Groups we have in India, share insights on Salesforce and also encourage the participation of women in tech. The platinum sponsors for the tour was Apttus, a huge shoutout to them and Eric Dreshfield as well.
The tour started off with the capital, New Delhi and moved on to the next 13 states: Noida, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kerala, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune and finally Gurgaon. Zachary spoke about why he chose India and was joined virtually by MVP Eric Dreshfield from Apttus, Salesforce MVPs SteveMo, Mayank Srivastava, Founder of the Salesforce Saturday group Stephanie Herrera and a lot more Salesforce community leaders in different cities. The meetups ended with a Salesforce trivia where winners were gifted with goodies, adding to the fun element.
During the tour, one of the major intentions was to give back to the community and Zachary did this by visiting NGOs like Udayan Care in Noida, Mother Teresa Mission in Mumbai and also taking part in a blood drive that was organized by Dazeworks in Infopark Cherthala, Kerala.
The grand finale was set up in the 13th state, Gurgaon on 20 June where Zachary summed up on the idea of the tour and about his experiences in India. He spoke about how glad he is to see companies growing in the economy and the future of Salesforce. He initiated the Women in Tech Group in Kerala and other locations that he visited and feels that it is going to be a game changer in the tech field. The session ended with a fun round of activities and trivia and also refreshments. It was an amazing curtain fall to a wonderful tour.
We thank Zachary for visiting us in India and encouraging us with his inspiring talk on the community and on Salesforce. His conversations went on to show how giving back to the community is not just about us or the intention but about being a window into the lives of people.
