Pledge1% – An amazing session on career guidance with the community students

This month as part of the Pledge 1% initiative, Dazeworks Bangalore team decided to make a pledge to divert 1% of equity and 1% of employee time to community development causes. An event was conducted in Shishu Mandir Education Centre on February 17th.
Shishu Mandir is a charitable organisation and also an English medium school which was started by a German lady named Hell Mundra in 1983. The school offers a comprehensive support system with a free school facility, vocational training and higher education for children who are below the poverty line. It is a great opportunity for the unprivileged children to learn and grow. The topic of discussion for this amazing event was Career Guidance. It was taken by our teammate Suyog who is always enthusiastic about taking motivational classes and guidance classes for students. Around 30 students attended the event. The aim was to motivate the children and to make them aim higher for a better life and future.
The students seemed really interested in the session. It felt really good to enlighten the students with the little knowledge that we had. We were also able to learn a lot of things from them. We had an interactive session with the students which helped us to know them better. Even though their stories shook us emotionally, we were really amazed to see how brave the children were and how confidently they were looking forward to their future. We felt totally blessed to be a part of the program and the students reminded us how fortunate we all are in life. We also felt that none of us were making the best out of the ocean of opportunities which are available for us and are not living our life to the fullest. Events like these are sometimes an eye-opener for us as well.
